Commenting on the agreement reached between the Metropolitan Police and the Met Police Assistant Commissioner Tarique Ghaffur, Dee Doocey Lib Dem spokesperson on policing and a member of the Metropolitan Police Authority said:
"It is regrettable that this important issue has been dealt with behind closed doors. Some very serious allegations were made by AC Ghaffur about discrimination in the Met, and this should have been fully investigated and if proven to be true, those responsible should have been held to account. The fact that an out of court settlement has been reached, just kicks the issue into touch and will do nothing to persuade the public that discrimination in the Met is a thing of the past."
